Where Did You Find Your Dog?

I was 16, my friend was in a ”rescuing mood” but had no place for the rescues. She begged me to take in this dog ”He’s severely neglected and abused” she said. I agreed, even though my mom would be really mad.

Tell Us About the Moment When You Knew that You Two Were Meant for Each Other.

We told my mom he was a stray. She wanted nothing to do with keeping him. She felt bad that he was so starving and that he was so sad, so she said we could keep him but had to take him to the SPCA that following morning. Her mind changed when she saw him in the back yard. He was so happy and he was loving. We knew this was his forever home.

How Has Your Hero Changed Your Life?

I grew up in the system with a lot of abuse. My only solution was suicide and self harm. By age 16, I had attempted suicide about 7 times. Then Niko came along, and everything changed. He was the light at the end of my tunnel, my hope, my inspiration. After all, if a dog who was completely emaciated and didn’t even know how to eat from a bowl can be happy, why cant I try? Well I did. And now I’m almost 18, holding down a job and happy as can be with Niko and my other three babies. The moral of the story is, light can come from just about anything. Sometimes, even the unlikely. Im my case, it was my sweet pittie named Niko
