Where Did You Find Your Dog?

My mom and I rescued Kaeya at 6 months old from the SPCA of Westchester.

Tell Us About the Moment When You Knew that You Two Were Meant for Each Other.

My mom and I have been fostering dogs for years, so she asked Megan, the veterinarian at the SPCA, who also happens to be her best friend, for some options on who we could foster. She sent my mom a picture of Mona, who we decided was ”The one” and later named Kaeya. It means ”Monsoon Flower”. My mom and I believe that pitbulls are delicate flowers because they are so lovable and have very sensitive skin as well as many allergies, so we looked for flower names online. When we came across the name Kaeya, we knew it was meant to be because our foster puppy was crazy and full of energy and love! We intended on having her for not even a couple months because she was a beautiful 6 month old blue nose pit bull. After trying to adopt her out numerous times, without success, we realized that she was only on her best behavior when with my mom and me.

How Has Your Hero Changed Your Life?

Kaeya is the sweetest dog I have ever met. She wags her tail ALL of the time. It never stops! She has what we call her ”Funky lip” as well as numerous scars. From what we don’t know, but to us it represents just how far she has come. She has taught me to be happy no matter what and to be grateful for everything that I have.
