Tell Us About the Moment When You Knew that You Two Were Meant for Each Other.

I had been volunteering for the late night dog walking shift. The one at 11pm when no one else wanted to? And Amber came in. She was still full of milk from a recent litter of puppies. She hadn’t been groomed in months. She was just an all around mess. During our nightly rendevous, we got to be friends. Then one night I came in, she was sitting in her cage trembling. She couldn’t walk. She couldn’t stand. She just shook and cried. Thinking the worst (I knew her age), I took her home to be with me…. just in case. After battling a neck injury, she just kept sleeping here. Then one morning during her potty trip…. she started doing doughnuts in my front yard. She was healed! I had several people tell me she was ”worthless.” ”She’s too old, too many issues, is a biter, not worthy when there are other dogs to adopt.” That’s when I realized I WANT her. The rest is kinda history.

How Has Your Hero Changed Your Life?

She has shown me that no matter what the age, you’re only as old as you feel. She gives my pups a run for their money and keeps us all on our toes.
