Where Did You Find Your Dog?

Craigslist! While contemplating getting a dog for over a year I constantly searched far and wide to the point where finding the perfect dog became an obsession. After extensive searches of local rescues and shelters I turned to an even darker side of animal rescue, the classifieds! From selling to breeding and even bartering for pets, Craigslist was filled with people who were eager to give up their animals. Being apprehensive at first, never having an animal on my own aside from dogs during my childhood I realized the situation for some of these animals could only get better if I open my heart and home. My girlfriend Jordan sent me an ad of a 6 month old puppy who was rescued from the woods and taken in by a nice couple, the wife was pregnant and was expecting any day. They began to realize a puppy and newborn just wasn’t for them. I decided to give them a call and set up a meeting for the upcoming weekend. We headed out to Butler, KY on a cool Saturday morning to meet the puppy. As we pulled up to the house we were greeted by the couple in the driveway. The husband whistled and a little brown pup came wiggling in the grass around the corner of their home. The sparks flew and the rest is history! Abel and I reside in Florence,ky. He enjoys chewing on his elk antler, going to the park, and kayaking on the river! This dog came into my life and has forever changed it. I’m truly greatful for him and he has become the definition of the phrase ”who rescued who?”.

Tell Us About the Moment When You Knew that You Two Were Meant for Each Other.

While driving to meet Abel for the first time I made my girlfriend promise to not let me make a bad decision. I told her if this doesn’t feel right or something seems off let me know. She agreed knowing how serious this decision was for me. The very second I got out of the car and locked eyes with this little brown pup I said ”we’ll take him”:) so much for thinking it through lol. It has been the best decision I have ever made and I could not ask for a better dog. When you know, you know!

How Has Your Hero Changed Your Life?

It is amazing the joy Abel has given me on a daily basis. From a friendly wag of the tail when I come home after a long day to lazy Sundays on the couch he has been nothing short of perfect! I love sharing the story of how I found him.
