How Has Your Hero Changed Your Life?: Teddy & I were both named Heartworm Heroes by the American Heartworm Society,:) My life changed from the moment I met him and that wagging tail. He is the reason I do what I do to help all the Teddy's in the world. Teddy gave me confidence that I can make a difference for these animals. I will continue to get the word out. Tell Us About the Moment When You Knew that You Two Were Meant for Each Other: My name is Annie Blumenfeld & I am 17 from CT. My family rescued Teddy from Texas he had tested positive to Heartworm disease and was just days away of being put down since there are so many rescues in need of medical attention. I learned what Teddy had to endure and that he was kept in a crate while arsenic went through his body. I was determined to make a difference for these in need and formed Wags 4 Hope a non profit 501 (c) 3 org. It is here where I educate pet owners about pet responsibility and HW prevention. I paint animals and 100% of the proceeds are given to help animal rescues globally. After meeting with CT legislators I spearheaded a change in the dog license application form to add a HW Check box. A change in the license has not been made in 8 years I even drew a "mixed breed" dog to encourage pet adaptions.
