Where Did You Find Your Dog?

Mt. Shasta Humane Society, Mt. Shasta, CA

Tell Us About the Moment When You Knew that You Two Were Meant for Each Other.

We are not dog people (or so we thought)! My daughter had been wanting a dog for YEARS, but I kept putting it off. Finally, just for fun, we headed to the shelter ”just to look” at a Chihuahua. Well, the yappy little guy just wasn’t going to work for us. We fell in love with another dog and set up a playdate to meet my parents dog – they had to be buddies since we spent a lot of time with them. This playdate didn’t go so well and the shelter said it wasn’t a good placement. With tears we started to walk away, but they asked us to wait..said they had another dog that might fit with us (a staffordshire mutt). It was a dog we had walked by and had not even considered due to his acting crazy-wild in his kennel. And he was a pit! Who adopts pits? They eat people, right?! We went in wanting a small dog – a lap dog. They brought out this other dog and we fell in love! Instantly we knew this was our dog and he needed to come home with us. We all instantly bonded and he came home with us right away. We know our boy is not bad because of his breed – he’s faithful, loyal, and exceptionally affectionate and smart. Our boy was waiting for us and we are so happy to have rescued him!

How Has Your Hero Changed Your Life?

Our hero Robbie AKA Bubbadog, has made our lives full of fun and love. This is the dog who I swore would sleep on his bed every night, but now snuggles up next to one of us. He wears bow ties, gets fancy treats, and is really my second child. He cheers us up when we are down, and has made us a more bonded family. We would not be as happy as we are today without him! He taught us patience and love due to his initial fear of just about everything and needing extra time to adjust. He makes us crawl out of bed and play fetch when we are having a crappy day, and loves us even when we don’t brush our teeth. Tonight my daughter said that rescuing Bubba was the best thing we ever did.
