Where Did You Find Your Dog?

I had been following a pit bull rescue (Bella Reed Pitbull Rescue) for some time on Facebook when Mimic’s littler was posted. As soon as I saw the litter, I knew I wanted to make him a part of the family. Unfortunately, the whole litter was adopted out very quickly. Then, a couple weeks later, the rescue re-posted Mimic as an adoptabull. I immediately emailed saying that I was interested, and filed my application.

Tell Us About the Moment When You Knew that You Two Were Meant for Each Other.

When we arranged our meet and greet/home inspection, I was like a little kid on Christmas. I stood by the door waiting for them to show up. I barely let them open the car door before I was out of the house. Out of the car jumped this tiny puppy, who was all wagging tail and big ears. He came up to me and looked up with these puppy eyes that melted my heart. If I had any doubts, they were gone in that moment. Before they even left I knew I had to have him. (The adoption happened the next day)

How Has Your Hero Changed Your Life?

Mimic has become the reason I smile so often. There is nothing like coming home to his wiggly butt and kisses. He has been the perfect transition into the next chapter of my life. I love being able to teach people that they shouldn’t believe all the myths behind pitbulls, and to just give them a chance. It makes me happy when people see us walking at the park and comment how sweet he is and that I can proudly tell them that he is a pitbull. I’m so glad I am able to give Mimic the loving home he deserves. It really is a question of who rescued who, because he gives me as much as I give him.
