Where Did You Find Your Dog?
Louise was rescued from a kill-shelter by Monty’s Home (montyshome.org). Monty’s Home is part of the Pawsitive Partners Prison Program in North Carolina. Louise and her 3 other litter mates spent 8 weeks in a local prison learning basic obedience before graduating and going home with their new families.
Tell Us About the Moment When You Knew that You Two Were Meant for Each Other.
I spent 2 hours with Louise picking her out between her and her two sisters. I had fallen in love with her picture before I met her, but knew how serious of a commitment it was to bring her home so I spent a lot of time making sure she was the one. Looking back, I knew the moment I saw her sweet brown eyes and her badly cropped, broken, and crooked tail:)
How Has Your Hero Changed Your Life?
Louise is my baby! She brings me joy each day. She has fears and trust issues of strangers. It has been challenging but unbelievably rewarding to work with her through her fears. Adopting her has opened doors for me to now work with Monty’s Home. I volunteer frequently to help dogs find their forever homes. Me experience with Louise has opened my eyes to the lives of the men in prison who are trying to make their lives better in a place where there is little hope. Monty’s Home not only helps abandoned and abused dogs learn to trust and love, but they also give the gift of hope to the inmates who are training the dogs. Louise also filled a hole on my heart after losing my 14 1/2 year old dog. She has proven to me that there is always room in our hearts to love again!
