Tell Us About the Moment When You Knew that You Two Were Meant for Each Other.
Fletcher is one of my foster "failures." I responded to the request to foster him and his two siblings for Save the Animals Foundation until they were fully vaccinated and ready for adoption. Their mom and dad were thrown out of a van at a park, and some kind people who saw what happened took them in. What they didn't know was that the female dog was pregnant with 3 pups (STAF found a wonderful home for mama and another rescue took daddy). I was instantly a goner when I met this little family. Fletcher was the obvious runt of the litter - he was small, scraggly and looked nothing like his fluffy siblings. But he was loaded with charisma and his siblings loved him. He also had the most irresistible, sunny personality that reflected back all the love we showered on him. It was when he went on a visit with a prospective home that my heart ached and I panicked at the thought of letting him go. My dogs stopped being playful when he left and I couldn't bear the thought of not having him a part of our family.
How Has Your Hero Changed Your Life?
This little guy is my "glue dog." In a pack of all females, he has been the neutralizer and the peace maker. He doesn't know he is 10 lbs and he has no fear about making friends with dogs of all sizes. He is always making me laugh and would be a stand up comedian if he were a human. I am now smitten by small dogs (especially with underbites) because of him. I look forward to him being a foster brother some day and making any dog feel welcome in our home.
