Smitty tells it best in his blog: gameofcurs.blogspot.com. I had been volunteering with MBR for awhile and Smitty (then Cee-lo) had this way about him that I loved. He wasn’t an overly excitable Jack Russell, but he was a Jack Russell. I was transporting him one day and stopped at home. He was playing with my dog Oliver and they seemed to be getting along really well. My husband was even playing with him, which he didn’t usually do with my transports. Everything just felt right and I knew he was meant to be part of our family.

How Has Your Hero Changed Your Life?

Smitty has taught me to look at myself and assess what I’m doing before placing the blame on others. Smitty can be very cunning when it comes to getting into things. While the urge was to blame him and call him a bad dog, instead, I looked at what I was or wasn’t doing that was leading him to get into trouble. He has also taught me to find humor in situations that aren’t normally humorous. This has led to his blog: Game of Curs. I try to view the world from his standpoint and how he sees things. Thinking about how he interprets situations helps me to be a better owner and work training to fit him.
