Where Did You Find Your Dog?

I found Archer through the MAKGSP (Missouri Arkansas Kansas German Shorhaired Pointer) Rescue. Which in turn was helping find a home for Olive’s Hope Pet Rescue.

Tell Us About the Moment When You Knew that You Two Were Meant for Each Other.

I first starting longing for a companion and after researching dogs I knew a GSP was the kind of dog I was looking for. In our family we almost always rescue dogs and I knew at this time in my life it was the right choice for me. I started looking up GSP rescues and found this one in particular in the area. I contacted them and they started the process to place one of their rescues with me. Archer was only with them for a few weeks and they rescued him just before he was scheduled to be euthanized. After seeing a picture of him and his condition I knew he needed me. They set me up to foster to adopt Archer and the first Saturday I could, I met up with Olive’s Hope to bring Archer to his new forever home. It took many hours of laying on the floor with him, coaxing him with treats, and lots of patience with him to build up his trust. Now Archer and I spend our days going on walks, learning new tricks, and laying on the couch together.

How Has Your Hero Changed Your Life?

Archer came into my life and renewed a young vigor in me. I constantly plan outings and trips that include him and try to show him life is not scary, but can be enjoyed. After hearing about Project Blue Collar from my girlfriend, I found a way to help spread the cause of Rescuing and how it can be a change in anyone’s life. I am now planning camping trips this summer to take with Archer and we both found companionship in each other. I no longer have to come home to an empty house, but to one with someone inside that loves me and is happy to see me no matter what mood I’m in. I’m thoroughly excited to see what our life together brings and how each one of us grows with our companionship.
