At the shelter, Trey nervously arranged and rearranged his little blanket until he got it just right. Workers told us he needed help with house training and getting along with other dogs. He was four years old and records indicated he’d lived most of his life in a cage. He looked at us with his wise little face and we knew that he was coming home.

How Has Your Hero Changed Your Life?

In no time, Trey gained confidence, got the hang of potty training and seemed determined to help out around the house. No varmint dared come into the yard, especially after Trey’s late-night stand-off with a possum he’d cornered on the hot tub cover. Now nearly 9-years-old, he still keeps a watchful eye out the window for any cats, squirrels, dogs, birds or people. He curls up on the sofa with our other dog, big girl Anna. He has a larger-than-life, bold personality and he makes it clear every day that we are his priority. For sure, the feeling is mutual!
