Tell Us About the Moment When You Knew that You Two Were Meant for Each Other.
One Saturday morning in 2008 I woke up and told my son we were going to get our dog today. I knew ”our dog” would be waiting for us on that particular day and I had a particular dog in mind when we went. A small, black, fuzzy dog. I fount that dog, but when I turned around, in the kennel across from the small fuzzy dog, I saw Rosco! He was bigger than I wanted, not fuzzy, and a hound who needed LOTS of exercise. Not at all what I was looking for. But, as all the dogs jumped around barking at us, Rosco sat there looking at us with a look that said ”I AM YOUR DOG!” And I believed him.
How Has Your Hero Changed Your Life?
Rosco has destroyed so many things in my house from shoes, to furniture and everything in between. I have never had a destructive dog before, so this was all new to me. What he has taught me is unconditional love, patience, and to just see the humor in things. We hike together, travel together and as high energy as he can be, he has also become a 50 pound lap dog when I’m on the couch. He taught me that things don’t always turn out as expected, but sometimes things turn out even better! When we go to the dog park, most of the people there will tell you their dog’s breed is ”Rescue.” We may not know what breeds exactly our dogs are made up of (and honestly it doesn’t really matter), but we do know rescue dogs are awesome dogs!
