Missus Skylar lived the first part of her life on a chain with an industrial blue barrel for shelter in Northern Kentucky. She was on a chain when she got pregnant and while raising her puppies. She couldn't take care of her puppies while they grew, as she was tethered and was helpless to protect them. Fortunately, HART learned of her plight and was able to rescue her and her puppies. I came across her profile on Petfinder, and between her age, story and temperament, I knew I had to have her.

How Has Your Hero Changed Your Life?

Missus has been a perfect companion for me. I can't imagine my life without her. She loves to play at the dog park but also loves to snuggle at the end of the day. It is REALLY hard for me to get pictures of her and I couldn't help but do my own "happy dance" when I finally was able to get a picture of her wearing a Blue Collar! Rescue dogs are so worth believing in - it's hard for me to imagine why anyone could have just treated her as just a lawn ornament or something to deter intruders. She is so much more than that. I see her gratitude in the loyalty she shows me every day.
