Tell Us About the Moment When You Knew that You Two Were Meant for Each Other.
I had been interested in adopting a puppy for two years, and kept looking for adoptable puppies at the local shelters. There were lots of puppy pictures I thought I fell in love with (how can you not love a picture of a puppy?) over the course of the two years, but there was always something that prohibited the adoption. Sometimes it was that the puppy already had an adoption pending; mostly it was just bad timing on my part. Then I saw a picture of Maggie posted on a shelter's website, and I fell in love - this time for real! The way she tilted her head and spoke to me with those big brown eyes, I knew that this was the one I had been waiting for. I realized that I had been using "bad timing" as an excuse all along, because once you are ready to adopt a pet, that pet becomes a priority that you make time for.
How Has Your Hero Changed Your Life?
Maggie has brought so much love into my life! She is my constant companion, my running buddy, my snuggle buddy, my best friend. We love going to dog events, dog parks, dog-friendly restaurants, and friends' houses. She loves dressing up and she has a whole basket full of clothes now. She is so smart and has been able to learn new tricks in very little time -- she aims to please! She is the most popular girl in the neighborhood -- the neighborhood kids love petting and playing with her while they are waiting for the school bus in the morning, and they love running up to see her when they get home from school. The families in the neighborhood look forward to seeing Maggie on their evening walks. Maggie has even grown accustom to who lives next door and who doesn't -- she is not only a good watchdog for me, but for the neighbors as well. People tell me that Maggie is spoiled. I say that she is very well loved, but I am the one that is spoiled, because I couldn't ask for a more perfect dog!
