Where Did You Find Your Dog?

Laika was found on a back road near my neighborhood by a friend’s mother with another terrier.

Tell Us About the Moment When You Knew that You Two Were Meant for Each Other.

My family has never had a dog weighing less than 45 pounds, so Laika was supposed to be a temporary thing until we could find a better home for her. When my 16 year old self and my dad went to pick her up she looked at us, then proceeded to walk right by us and jump in our car. At that moment, I knew this strange little bug eyed thing had a much larger personality than I gave her credit for and she was meant to be with me. My dad, who was more hesitant than I was to bring her home, instantly agreed.

How Has Your Hero Changed Your Life?

Laika has above all things taught me to never let other people’s perspective of you bring you down. She’s small (15lbs) and ”kind of weird looking”, but has a personality at least 100x her size. She’s the head dog in a household with two larger dogs (45 and 60lbs), always gets the biggest bed in the house, and is never afraid to stand up for herself or her shy larger sister, Cairo. You get unexpectedly awesome surprises in strange packaging sometimes, and Laika is a prime example of that.
