Izzy, Ziva, Rebel

  • : There are no words to explain how much my girls have changed my life and have saved me. I truly believe that I would not be who I am today without my girls. They have been my rocks, my support group, my best friends, my world. We do everything together and go on adventures every weekend. All three of my girls have earned the AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate and I am so proud of each of them. Everyday I am continued to be amazed of how amazing my girls are and how lucky and blessed to have been the one that each of them picked. I don't know how I got so lucky but somehow my girls saw something in me and now I get to prove to them every day that I am forever their human and will love them more and more each day.
  • : In 2007 I just moved to Michigan for graduate school, I knew no one but was doing okay. I went into TSC looking for some outdoor stuff when I noticed there was a rescue agency holding an adoption fair. I went by a small pen housing a couple of pups, one of which was all alone in the corner. I was told the pups (originally 6 were found but not all made it) were found in a sack on the side of the road and the one in the corner was incredibly shy and an introvert. I picked up that shy pup and she crawled into my jacket and at that moment I knew Izzy and I were meant to be. From that moment on, my life forever changed. Izzy brought happiness, comfort, joy, friendship, and love into my life. In 2010, Izzy and I moved back to NC (hometown of Winston-Salem) and were at a dog-walk charity event with my mom when my mom spotted a white pup that was up for adoption. After the event, we went to the Forsythe humane society for my mom to meet the pup but they did not have a connection. In the pen, there were two white boxer-mixes. I went into the pen to say hello when one of the sisters jumped into my lap and gave me so many puppy kisses that I knew that this pup knew I was the one that she was meant to be with. I brought Ziva home a couple of days later (after paperwork went through) and I never knew that Izzy and I were missing something in our lives. Ziva came in and truly made our house a home and our little duo a family. Ziva brought new life and energy and so much love into our lives. Later in 2010, Izzy Ziva and I moved to Fayetteville, NC to start a new job. Five years later, I felt that it was time to expand our family. I searched for almost a year when I saw a picture on a SC rescue agency website (SQ Rescue) of this cute pup with a patch over her eye and all alone as her siblings had gotten adopted immediately but no one wanted her. Izzy, Ziva and I drove the 2.5 hours to SC to meet the pup. It was love at first tail wag and kiss for all of us. Ziva and Izzy immediately bonded to the pup and once Rebel jumped into my arms I knew our family was complete. Rebel has made Izzy (now 8) a puppy again, adding spunk to her step and is a mini-me to Ziva. Rebel has brought so much laughter and love into our home and the search and wait for Rebel was meant to be.
