Where Did You Find Your Dog?

I found Gabriel through the local shelter that we frequently volunteered with. I saw his pictures online when he was first brought in and they were heartbreaking. I didn’t meet him until about six months later though when my friend wanted to take him out to the local pet store.

Tell Us About the Moment When You Knew that You Two Were Meant for Each Other.

When I saw his pictures online, I knew I needed to have him. I could tell through his face he was going to be one of the sweetest dogs around (I was right). I didn’t know if it’d even be possible to adopt him with me moving to a different state in the next few months in a house with room mates. After I moved out of that house, and after about two years of him being in the shelter, I knew it was time. I drove back home and finally brought him home. It was meant to be and I knew it the second I saw his sad face in a sad Facebook post. He fits right into our pack and our life.

How Has Your Hero Changed Your Life?

Gabriel has not only changed our life, but changed so many people’s. At the shelter he lived at for two years, he was a shelter favorite. Every volunteer and every worker knew who Gabriel was and knew that they loved him and his big head. He was a volunteers first ever pit bull to meet and she is now so in love with the breed. He has changed the minds of people around me with his kind and loving attitude. He walks up to everyone around us with a wagging tail and smile on his face. And for us, he has shown us so much. He has shown us true determination, through battling heart worms and conquering. He has shown us true love to us and to our other dogs. And, he has shown us a true pit bull. He loves everyone, every dog, and everything. But what he loves more is kids. He has shown resilience and forgiveness and shocks me daily. He makes me want to treat everyone better. He shows me that even though some people may not think you’re so great, you can still think they’re great. He is my role model daily and I am so glad he is home forever with us.
