Where Did You Find Your Dog?

I met my pet baby sitting, I watched her grow. Her name is Chloe, as she got older she was harder to handle, she was very hyper active, and very destructive. The neighbors hated her because of her barking. She was not fed enough, something I argued about, and was kept in the corner of the house or in a crate that was too small for her. I wanted her but I lived in an apartment where I was the manager, and no dogs were allowed. I moved away to a house , and when I asked about her I was told she had been taken to the shelter! She had been there about a month. When I called the shelter they said she had been returned twice because of her behavior, and she would be euthanized soon. I begged for them to put her on hold for me. I'm so happy I decided to move to a house. I adopted her by phone and had a family member pick her up and bring her to me. At the shelter she was crying, she had lost a lot of weight, she was the only dog with no bed because she would destroy them, and she had contracted kennel cough. She was sooo happy when she saw me, even happier when she saw she had a huuuuge yard to run free and play!

Tell Us About the Moment When You Knew that You Two Were Meant for Each Other.

When I saw Chloe as a puppy, I just knew that somehow she was meant to be with me. People did not like her, she was too much for everyone to handle, but I had patience, and I absolutely fell in love with her. When I found out she had been taken to the shelter because of her behavior, I had to adopt her! It's tragic that she almost died at 9 months because no one had the patience for her.

How Has Your Hero Changed Your Life?

I've always suffered from depression, I've even tried to take my own life more than once, and I get sick often. Animals have played a HUGE role in my recovery. They are great therapy, and exercise. Chloe needed me, she needs me, I need her. No matter what, Chloe loves me, and protects me. The love I feel for her is beautiful, she really did make a difference in my life, she keeps my mind preoccupied, she makes me not want to give up. All my rescued pets do, but Chloe especially.
