Where Did You Find Your Dog?

Kanawha Valley Animal Emergency Clinic. My younger sister is a registered vet tech and was working at the KVAEC when a lady came in with a puppy that she found. He had some devastating injuries to his mouth and body. The clinic staff fell in love with him and decided to do the surgery to reattach his lip to his jawline (they think he was kicked in the face) and my sister volunteered to foster him.

Tell Us About the Moment When You Knew that You Two Were Meant for Each Other.

It was love at first sight!!!! After I met him for the first time I couldn’t stop thinking about him. I was still in college and getting ready to graduate, so I would call and get updates about him every day. I was heartbroken to learn that he had gotten parvo. He pulled through and was only hospitalized for 3 days, one of those days I was home for the weekend and went to the clinic with my sister to check on him. He had ended up having a bad ”blow out” which required him and his kennel to be cleaned out. While I was holding him for my sister to clean him, and his kennel up, that’s when I knew I HAD to have this puppy!!!

How Has Your Hero Changed Your Life?

Aidan has changed my life in many, many ways and he has taught me so many life lessons. When he was about a year old I enrolled him in an obedience class. At the end of the 8 week class he passed the AKC Canine Good Citizen test, and then I was hooked on doing dog sports with him. Through our training and competitions I’ve met so many wonderful people who have become very close friends. He has a few AKC obedience titles and I use him as my demo dog in classes that I teach, and we train in agility (agility trials are a little too much overstimulation for him). Everywhere we go he shows people how awesome rescued and mixed breed dogs! He’s also a great ambassador for bully breeds and helped repeal Breed Specific Legislation that was passed in the county we live in a few years ago. He’s my best friend and my rock!
